Tournament Classifications

The Gamers Tour includes four types of tournaments, which are Regional Tournaments, National Tournaments, Online Tournaments, and Invitational Championships. The details vary within each classification, but the general format and implications are similar.

Tournaments have varying degrees of Ranking Points which you can read about on the Rankings Points page.

Regional Tournaments:

# of Game Centers: 1
# Max Teams: 4 to 32 teams
Prize Pool: $1,000+ minimum

A Regional Tournament is an event held entirely by one Game Center. Usually these events will involve a single location. However, if the Game Center has multiple locations then it may include more (for example both Howie's Game Shack in Mission Viejo and Howie's Game Shack in Westminster).

National Tournaments:

# of Game Centers: 4, 8, or 16
# Max Teams: 4, 8, 16, or 32 teams (per location)
Prize Pool: $5,000+ minimum

A National Tournament is a weekend event held at multiple Game Centers around the country. On Saturday teams compete locally against other teams at the same Game Center until a local winning team emerges. The winning team advances to Sunday to play online against other the winning teams from the other Game Centers.
